Assemblies: We will need 1-2 coordinators per grade to work with the teachers and coordinate for grade-specific assemblies and field trips. Work with staff and administrators to select and implement programs to enrich curriculum throughout the year. Program selections for grades Kindergarten through Fifth Grade are made primarily in the spring for the following school year.
Author Visits: Work with the Library Media Center staff to organize programs and activities that encourage students’ appreciation of reading and writing. Volunteers will be expected to help on the day of the event as well as with set up and clean up in the library.
Book Fair: Committee members will help plan, advertise, set up, run, and break down the Book Fair. If you are interested in assisting your child’s class during the fair, a separate sign-up
will be distributed a few weeks before the fair.
Class Parent: Each class has a head class parent and an assistant class parent. Class parent assignments will be made in September once class lists are available. If there are more than 2 volunteers per class, a lottery system will be used to make a decision. If you are chosen as a class parent, you will receive an email in the fall. Class parent responsibilities are located on the PTA website at www.briarcliffpta.org.
Community Outreach: Coordinate service projects for the entire school, e.g., Pajama Program, Thanksgiving Food Drive, etc. Volunteers may be needed occasionally to work with Fourth- and Fifth-Graders during their lunch and recess periods to create advertising for school community service initiatives.
Garden Club: Plan for and assist children with monthly garden projects for students in Grades 2 through 5. Projects are done during students’ recess periods.
Helping Hands: Help various committee chairs when extra volunteers are needed. Your name will be added to a list of people that will be called as the need arises.
Hospitality: Provide food and beverage donations, and help set up and clean up at meetings, parent teas, and receptions. Coordinate and work at staff holiday breakfast and staff appreciation lunch.
Lost & Found: Help take care of all lost & found items throughout the year.
Multicultural Awareness: PTA volunteers and staff work together to plan events promoting multicultural awareness.
Pizza Day: Volunteer to come in on pizza day to serve pizza, drinks, and snacks.
School Pictures: Pictures are taken over a two-day period at the beginning of the school year. Volunteers are needed to work in 2-3 hour shifts during the time when their child’s class is photographed. Help with the children, assist the photographers, arrange any chairs, and other set-up. Help keep the children orderly and the sessions moving along.
School Store: The School Store is open every other Tuesday from approximately 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Main responsibility is to work at the school store and help children in Grades 1 through 5 select and pay for their merchandise.
Spirit Committee: The committee plans fun activities and events for the Todd School community, e.g., a school family picnic, other events, etc.
Wellness Committee: The Wellness Committee’s mission is to educate and inform students and parents about the impact of nutrition, wellness, and physical activity on health. Volunteers may be asked to help plan, prepare, and serve healthy food tastings to students during their lunch periods a few times each year.
Yearbook: Work with Fifth Grade students to produce the Todd Yearbook. Volunteers may be asked to help with content, layout, and editing. Volunteers are also needed at each grade level to photograph grade-specific activities.
